We make up to three attempts to serve the person or entity. At each attempt, we don’t just knock on the door and leave. We vary the times of day—early mornings, late evenings, weekends. We have a reputation for our persistence, our investigative work on site, communication with neighbors, gathering of vehicle license plate numbers, and other strategies that have made us successful.
Some likely possibilities are: they have moved, they are out of town, or they are home and refusing to answer the door. We will provide you with details of the circumstances and, if requested, provide you with an Affidavit of Non-Service. You are still responsible for the cost.
Absolutely! We serve people at work all the time. Our policy is to make every effort to serve them privately and quietly. It is possible the employer will not allow employees to come to speak with us. We make every effort to avoid sharing our purpose for requesting to speak to an employee. We prefer serves to be handled confidentially.
Absolutely! If you know a location where a person can be found, we will go there. We have served individuals at restaurants, the car pool line at school, gas stations, grocery stores, even bus stops.
Surveillance is billed at $85 an hour with a minimum three-hour order. We will work with you to determine the most likely time period for catching the individual. We will provide you with detailed information recorded during surveillance. This information often proves valuable to a Plaintiff when making a case for due diligence in getting someone served.
If they have moved and you don’t know the new address, you can hire us to do a Skip Trace. We conduct investigative work and provide a new address for you. A Basic Skip Trace costs $85. If we are unable to find an address for you with a Basic Skip Trace, you can upgrade to a Comprehensive Skip Trace for $125.
If the person appears to be home and is refusing to answer the door, we recommend surveillance. You can hire us to wait for the person to come out of the house or building, intercept him, and serve him. In order to do this, we require a picture of the person we are attempting to serve. We set up a surveillance in a hidden location and wait. Sometimes we wait for hours. Once the person appears, we move to intercept and serve him. We will serve him on the go, if necessary.
If the person being served refuses to accept the papers, we can serve by refusal if we can positively identify them. When we approach the person with the papers and he tries to walk away or refuses to take the papers, we will serve by refusal. We will identify the person, speak their name, declare what we are serving, and where we are leaving the documents. This is a completely legal and valid serve.
Yes, each address is a separate job. If we determine through serve attempts that the original address is not valid, ordering a new address is an additional charge. We are starting the process all over again at a new address.
You will need to determine which address is most likely to be the acurate address for finding the person to be served. If the address is not valid, you can decide if you wish to start a new serve order at the second different address. We charge by the address, so each new address incurs a separate serve charge.
